Concerning the Coffee work, Bach in story narration takes on the "brewing" controversy in his time with the recent intro of coffee into the region.

Bach himself enjoyed it is said three to four cups daily, and regularly played with other musicians at Herr Zimmermann's coffee house/5(2). Johann Sebastian Bach () was also apparently a coffee much so that he wrote a composition about the beverage. Although known mostly for his liturgical music, his Coffee Cantata (AKA Schweigt stille, plaudert nicht, BWV ) is a rare example of a secular work by the short comic opera was written (circa ) for a musical ensemble called The Collegium.

The first time I tried Intelligentsia’s Black Cat Analog Espresso was in a coffee shop. I was in Northern California for work back in and had a beautifully pulled shot at Vero’s Coffee Bar in San Jose. I enjoyed it so much, I use the photo of it that I took as an example [ ].

The Coffee Cantata Though he was more famous for writing sacred pieces, the occasional secular gem showed Bach to be a humorous and inventive chap. Described as a mini comic opera, 'Schweigt stille, plaudert nicht' ('Be still, stop chattering') it concerns the characters' addiction to coffee and was most likely first performed in a Leipzig coffee house.

One of the more unique works that Bach composed at this time was the secular cantata Schweigt stille, plaudert nicht (literally “be still, stop chattering”), better known as the Coffee Cantata (BWV ). Composed probably between andthe cantata is essentially a miniature comic opera that tells the story of a disgruntled father.

The Coffee Cantata is so funny. About a father who is concerned his daughter will never get marrried because she's spending too much time drinking coffee at the local tavern. It is in German but translations to other languages are easy to get/5(4).

There is much more than just tea leaves or coffee beans we offer openings, new tastes and unexplored flavors. In this book the internationally accepted Bach researcher Hans-Joachim Schulze gives a most interesting insight into the culture and history of coffee drinking and describes in a well-founded as well as entertaining way the evolutionary history of the Coffee Cantata.

J.S. Bach composed his short, comic "Coffee Cantata" in It depicts a scene in which a father berates his daughter for drinking the intoxicating beverage. She in turn protests, "How sweet the coffee tastes, more delicious than a thousand kisses, mellower than muscatel wine.

Coffee, coffee I must have, and if someone wishes to give me a treat, ah, then pour me out some coffee!".

Percolating with information about the world's favorite "new" health food, as well as interviews with medical doctors, researchers, and coffee roasters, this intriguing book (with a jolt of past and present coffee culture) reveals coffee types and blends, and flavored varieties (both regular and decaf), like chocolate, fruits, nuts, and spices.5/5(5).
